We were appointed to carry out the fit out and refurbishment of a new cafe within a significant listed building facing the historic st Mary's churchyard in Hitchin for local business Chia Naturally Healthy. As well as serving delicious plant-based food and drinks, the new cafe will create a new space to dwell along one of the town iconic streets, connecting the town square with the marketplace and riverside.
A series of modern interventions will compliment the listed interior. A palette of subtle color tones define individual elements connected by finer filigree pieces of joinery and metalwork inspired by botanical drawings.
The project won the RIBA Hertfordshire Architects Association Award for best commercial project in 2019.
