Village Extension
Autumnal images of our extension to a grade II listed coaching inn dating back to the 17th Century as part of its conversion to a new home. The project carefully inserted a sharply detailed copper oak glazed form against the historic elevation which was defined by three large inglenook fireplaces. The new extension centred itself around one of these setting up a new relationship with this feature from the inside and outside. The design sets itself low in the sloped site and plays a subtle part in the historic roofscape of this Hertfordshire village. Low energy techniques were introduced as part of the building conservation process. Most importantly of all the project retains the existing historic bar internally- Cheers! More to follow!
